Bicycle Infrastructure

Current Major Projects that are under design include:

  • Sandy Springs Circle streetscape Hammond Drive to Mt. Vernon Highway (CC-010 and City Springs)
  • Roswell Road/SR 9 Sidewalks and Streetscape on the west side of Roswell From Lake Placid Drive to Northwood Drive and Long Island Drive to Broad Street (CDBG-Funded Project)
  • Peachtree Dunwoody Road/Lake Hearn Drive Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements (PCID) 
  • Peachtree Dunwoody Road Commuter Trail between Hammond Drive and Crestline Pkwy
  • Chattahoochee River Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge at SR 9/Roswell Rd (Joint project with City of Roswell)
  • SR 400 Trail from Loridans Drive (in City of Atlanta) to I-285/SR 400 Interchange

Recently completely projects: 

  • Windsor Parkway Pedestrian bridge
  • Dunwoody Club Drive bike lanes
  • Morgan Falls Road bike lanes and shared-lane markings (also known as sharrows)
  • Peachtree Dunwoody Road bike lanes
  • Green dilemma zone striping on Perimeter Center West

As the City completes its annual paving program, it explores opportunities for additional on-street bicycle facilities.

Adopted Sandy Springs Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trail Plan (Dec. 2014)

The City Council adopted the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trail Plan in 2014. This plan is the first time the City took a comprehensive evaluation of its existing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and identified future investments.
