The multi-purpose field at Hammond Park will close in January for up to six months as the City of Sandy Springs completes an erosion control and turf replacement program at the Park.

The Hammond Park Erosion Control and Park Improvements Project is scheduled to begin Monday, January 4, 2021.   The first phase of this project will require the multi-purpose field to repair soil erosion and divert stormwater runoff. These repairs seek to prevent future flooding throughout the Park.  Following, new turf will be installed. The combined projects will require a closure expected through July 1, 2021.

Additionally, Tennis Court # 4 will close for two weeks; January 4 thru January 18, 2021, reopening Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Construction adjacent to this court will include building a retaining wall to divert water runoff and to prevent silt build up on the courts.

Updates related to the project and reopening of the field will be posted on the City’s website and on social media @SandySpringGA and @COSSRecandParks.
