If you know, you know, and if you go, you’ll glow! Plan now to “Take it to the River” on Saturday, April 13, for this year’s Lantern Parade. The popular springtime event returns to Morgan Falls Overlook Park for the ninth year. Admission is free.
The parade, a glowing procession of light, music, and color, strolls from the Steel Canyon Golf Club to Morgan Falls Overlook Park starting at 8:15 p.m. Participants who make a flying pig lantern march in front of the parade with Sanderson the Flying Pig. The parade caravan will also display a great variety of creativity, with hundreds of brightly colored handmade puppets, globes, and parasols.
Before the parade, participants will gather in the Steel Canyon Golf Club parking lot and enjoy music, food trucks, and children’s activities. Pre-parade activities begin at 6 p.m.
Morgan Falls Overlook Park will be closed all day on Saturday, April 13, for event setup. Parking for the parade is at the Morgan Falls Office Park, 7840 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30350. A free shuttle will be available starting at 5:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to the parade! Want to make your own lantern? There are two lantern workshops on April 6 at City Springs, in the Studio Theatre, at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The workshops will be led by parade artist Chantelle Ryter, best known for founding the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade. The workshops are $25. You must register in advance at https://citysprings.com/lantern. To-go lantern kits are available to purchase during the workshops.
