Nominate a Fellow Employee for Recognition

The sign outside the building reads: "Heroes Work Here," and we couldn't agree more! Each day, City employees work to deliver excellent service and along the way, they've set the bar pretty high. City Management wants to highlight the efforts of our great team and last year created the Employee Recognition Program allowing employees to nominate a co-worker who they feel exemplifies excellence.

CUSTOMER SERVICE CATEGORIES

Employees are grouped into five categories for quarterly awards.  Any employee may nominate another employee in any of the categories.  Nominations and awards are made within each of the following categories:

• Group A            Police, Fire, Courts
• Group B            Communications, Community Development, Economic Development
• Group C            Hospitality, Recreation and Parks, Performing Arts Center
• Group D            Public Works, Facilities
• Group E            Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, City Clerk

PROCESS

• There is a nomination and selection process for the Outstanding Employee of the Quarter (OEQ) at the end of each quarter.  The next quarter to be recognized is April 1, 2020-July 1, 2020. Nominations will be accepted Monday, August 17, 2020-Friday, August 28, 2020. 
• Nominations may be submitted by any employee for an employee in any of the five categories using the attached official OEQ Nomination Form, which is also saved in the Shared Between Departments, Employee Recognition folder on the X Drive.  Nominations should be based on the employee’s actions during the quarter that go above and beyond their job description.  Forms should be emailed to employeerecognition@sandyspringsga.gov
• The Selection Committee will meet in September 2020, and select an employee from each category to be recognized.  One OEQ will be selected from the five Category Awardees. The committee will also select an OEQ for the first quarter of 2020 (January 1, 2020-March 31, 2020), from the nominations submitted in Spring 2020.
• The OEQ will receive two tickets to a performance at City Springs of available shows, a paid day off, and a plaque. 
• The Selection Committee will choose an Outstanding Employee of the Year (OEY) from the previous year’s OEQ winners.  It is anticipated that the OEY will be honored at a Citywide recognition ceremony.  The OEY will receive a reserved parking space for a year, a plaque, a bonus, and two performance tickets.
