All properties must conduct a separate inspection of the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) utility equipment required every 5 years to make sure that the equipment is properly maintained and operating within the manufacturer’s specifications.

Mechanical (HVAC) inspections may include detailed inspections of the heating furnace/blower, the filter in the furnace/blower, secure wiring in the heating furnace/blower etc. 

Electrical inspections may include detailed inspections of the electrical outlets, lights and fan, bathroom, electrical panel etc. 

Plumbing inspections may include detailed inspections of the water heater, kitchen sink, toilets, etc.

If you would like to be a part of this program, please email MRH@SandySpringsGA.Gov for more information.  A registration event was held on May 29, 2024. During this event, the recently adopted Multifamily Rental Housing ordinance requirements were discussed focusing on the Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing inspections and demonstrated how to use the inspection software. Each MEP inspector will need to register to be a part of the Multifamily Rental Housing program.

The MEP Inspection software was developed by the City of Sandy Springs for the MRH project and can be used on your phone or iPad (it is offered for free to all MRH inspectors).
