Transportation improvement projects are always happening in the City.

There are more than 315 miles of roadways in the Sandy Springs local street network. Since incorporation in 2005, the City has paved more than 170 miles of those roadways. In addition, the City has completed more than 42 intersection improvement projects, install 32 miles of traffic fiber, and has 129 signals throughout the city under the control of its Traffic Management Center. Interstate I-285 and Georgia State Routes 400 and 9 (Roswell Road) also pass through Sandy Springs. These highways are maintained by the State.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the City’s transportation systems, which includes road and right-of-way maintenance, traffic engineering, transportation planning and capital improvement implementation. This department works with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) on our regional transport infrastructure. Public Works is also responsible for the City’s stormwater infrastructure. You can contact Public Works through the Citizen Response Center at 770-730-5600.
